BBD: What it takes to build a Cervelo P5X!

Marc Vogel

"There’s more to the ultimate triathlon bike than blowing benchmarks away. For the first time in Cervélo’s history — for the first time in history, period — the unique needs of every triathlete, whether training, racing or travelling, are truly front and centre. From aerodynamically integrated storage and stress-free packing to unprecedented micro- and macro-adjustability, the P5X focuses on a singular goal: Helping triathletes achieve their personal best." - Cervelo Cycles

We recently had a customer come in wanting to purchase a Cervelo P5X. Probably the most important thing you need to do before purchasing this bike is making sure you get a quality bike fit since it's a very unconventional time trial bike. As you might know we specialize in bike fitting, so we were pretty confident in getting her this bike even though this would be the first P5X we've ever sold. We got her dialed in and then the bike was ordered. When it arrived, we had to build it up piece by piece, and it was pretty interesting. Check out the photos below -

This build kind of reminds me of either putting together a Lego Set or K'nex Set. Not sure which one; perhaps, maybe both? The photos below really illustrate how many pieces it takes to make this bike work. Also, check out those storage compartments!

it even came with a reflector set! (legally obligated to of course) Should we put these on? ;-)

Here is the bike almost completely built. We still have to finalize the fit with the customer. After that, we can cut the excess seat tube, wrap the bars, and complete the "finishing touches".  It definitely looks fast standing still.
